Call for Papers

Before submitting an abstract, please read carefully the conference rules

Submission Rules:

Proposals that present research results or reflect on the articulations between cultural/artistic practices and activism/political participation will be accepted, taking into consideration a set of axes:

-Global challenges and grammars of resistance

-Digital activism

-Migrations, mobility and social integration through the arts

-Ecology, the Anthropocene and artivism

-Social precarities and forms of resistance

-Articulations between youth activism and creative practices

-New social movements between the local, the virtual and the global

-Housing and the right to the city

-Crisis, resistance and social change

-A(r)tivism in the public and private sphere

-Artivist research methods


Submissions and respective communications can be made in Portuguese, Spanish and English. Abstracts must have a maximum of 500 words and clearly explain the context of the research or theoretical reflection to be presented at the conference, indicating the objectives, conceptual assumptions and methodology, as well as the expected or achieved results. They should also be accompanied by an English version and a short biography of the author(s) (max. 150 words), including their affiliation and contact information. Posters

In collaboration with the international conference COMbAT, taking place this year in Lisbon, comite launches an open call for posters in visual arts (drawing, design, fanzine, collage, photo montage, poems and other graphic interventions).

Editorial practices arising from the variety of current social movements and activist engagements are encouraged.

Selected works will be reproduced in A0 format, B/W, on 80 gsm paper, and exhibited anonymously in the comité space from 3rd until 21st of July 2023.

Proposals must be sent by email containing the poster file with title NAME_Title_Year, in PDF or JPEG format, A0 size, B/W, 180 dpi min., accompanied by a text of 250 words max, setting out their conceptual and technical intentions. Only one proposal per participant will be accepted for selection.

By submitting a proposal, the authors accept that their work falls under the Creative Commons 4.0 International License.
